Object Design Ltd – Terms and Conditions of Purchase
Who we are
Our website is www.objectstudio.co.uk. We trade as Object Design Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 9948961. Our trading address is Unit 12 Forest Business Park, London, E10 7FB. Our VAT number is 947822291.
The Materials we use
At Object Studio we endeavour to source only the highest quality materials from a handful of carefully selected suppliers. For timber pieces, we take every available opportunity to select stock by hand.
Timber is a natural material and subsequently will always have variations in grain, colour and other markings and characteristics. For us it is this natural beauty and variety that makes each piece of timber so special. These features reflect both the individuality of the timber as well as the ‘handmade to order’ process that we work by.
Timber can be considered ‘live’ in that it is directly affected by the amount of heat and moisture it is exposed to. Whilst all our timber is correctly dried for furniture making and prepped to maximise stability, movement of solid wood cannot be prevented. Movement can take shape in the form of warping, shakes (cracks) and shrinkage. This will be exaggerated by extreme climate conditions.
Furniture may contain knots, cracks and colour variations. We are unable to accept returns based on this natural variation. Specific orders with requirements for colour of stock and matching of grain etc. are to be agreed in advance in writing.
For our metal furniture and sculptures, we work with a carefully selected handful of suppliers to help us produce high quality components, as well as coatings and finishes.
The casting process from the foundries can create inconsistencies such as:
- Colour variation within a part/piece, including swirling
- Colour variation between cast metal and weld
- Surface porosity/cavities of castings
These are a natural part of the process and we are unable to guarantee finished items won’t include the above, and subsequently can’t accept returns for these reasons.
Portrayal of Products
Although we make every effort to accurately portray all our pieces on our website, slight variations may occur from previous examples as well as within multiple orders. We strive to continuously improve our products and therefore reserve the right to change, without prior notice, any data and any published details (including construction methods and stock formation).
Material and finish samples can be viewed in our studio/workshop and samples can be sent out for approval if required. Variations in finish colour may occur where material colour varies.
Specification sheets with measurements are available for all our pieces.
Availability and Production Times
At Object all our pieces are handmade to order in our workshop in London. All the pieces from the collection on our website can be created using a variety of different timbers and finishes. We are also able to adapt and scale existing designs to suit.
We confirm that your order will be fulfilled within the quoted lead times from the date of receipt of payment, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
If no lead time is specified then orders are fulfilled within a reasonable time frame upon invoice payment.
Orders and Payment
Following an order we will provide an invoice. All orders are confirmed upon full payment of invoice (unless a payment schedule is agreed and confirmed prior to the start of the project). Payment also acts as acceptance of these ‘Terms and Conditions of Purchase’.
Payment schedules can be agreed for larger projects. In this case, final payment will be required upon completion and inspection of work prior to dispatch. Only with full payment will ownership of fabricated items be passed over.
Product prices, shipping charges and import duties are liable to change at any time. All quotes/invoices are valid for 30 days.
Delivery of Goods
We can arrange delivery and shipping of all our pieces.
Full delivery details and contact should be provided in writing. The delivery can then be invoiced for appropriately. Deliveries will always be clearly stated on an invoice.
All deliveries, unless specifically arranged, are carried out by 3rd party companies. All contents are insured to door/gate at street level of delivery address, to the value of the item.
When required it may be possible to arrange Object Studio to install furniture and installations on site. If we do so, this will be at your own risk unless agreed in writing prior to install.
Cancellations and Amendments
All cancellations or amendments must be received in writing within X days of order confirmation.
We will endeavour to work with clients in regard to changing projects or cancelling an order.
Dependant on date of cancellation or amendment, a charge may be applied before any refund is provided. Where possible we will provide details for costs of changes or cancellations.
Liability
Our liability for any reason is limited to payments received.
Design and Exclusivity
Unless agreed in writing prior to a confirmed order ‘Object Design Ltd’ retains all rights to designs, including commissions.
Where agreed in writing, commissions will be unique and designs won’t be repeated. Material and process however from such projects will still remain at the use of Object Studio as it pleases.
